Marcia's Story
Life
After my graduation from the University of West Florida, Pensacola, I sold printing services for Vitro Press of Fort Walton Beach. I worked as an Economic Developer with The Florida Dept of Commerce.
In December 1974, I began training Florida's first Community Industrial Development Team at Palatka. This was followed by a second Team in St. Augustine and then teams in almost every county in Florida. Both Palatka and St. Augustine changed the way they related to industrial prospects and brought more industry into their area, in the case of Palatka. St. Augustine worked to build a more diversified economic base into their community.
I went to work for 3M in 1978, in their Traffic Control Materials Research Lab, St. Paul, MN, until the company sent me to be Traffic Control Materials's Government Rep in the State of Oklahoma. In 1980, I moved back to Atlanta and worked as a rep for Honeywell's Flame Safeguard Division. Jaunary 31, 1981, I married The Honorable John Royce Agn...Expand for more
er of Perry, who was the senior judge in the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
I am presently a widow and have returned to NW Florida, to the area near Panama City Beach where I grew up in Vernon. My son, Barrett, lives across the street from me and I see him almost daily.
In winter, I teach painting classes in Panama City Beach. I am active in The Florida Chautauqua in DeFuniak Springs, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Marianna, and several art guilds in NW Florida. Through The Chautauqua, I began painting in 2004, and began teaching painting in 2005.
In June 2007, a small gallery honored me with the first show of my painting, which I shared with my childhood friend, Emily Catherine Williams, aka Kay Williams of Bonifay. Kay is a clay artist living in Jacksonville.
Even as a small child, I enjoyed traveling and now enjoy sketching and painting during my travels. I have traded my old Pentax 1000, with it's bags full of lenses and converters, for a digital camera.
